It’s been a busy week at Future Business Centre Peterborough this week. We’ve hosted several meetings and events including Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council’s circular economy event where they announced their intention for Peterborough to become the UK’s first circular city with material being circulated and re-used around the city. With close to 100 delegates it was a great event featuring some excellent presentations and an interesting workshop where delegates put forward their ideas for what a circular city would look like.
We’ve also had a number of new tenants moving in to the Centre including Dresser-Rand, a Siemens business, who are developing an innovative way of harvesting renewable energy from ocean waves and iDream Academy who are helping young people get into dance and the media industry. I’ve also been to see an innovative, prototype, vertical farm which I am hoping will come to the Future Business Centre later in the year.
Next week we are hosting a ‘Shaping the Future of Manufacturing‘ event with local manufacturing companies to inform them about the latest grants and support available to local businesses in the sector. Places are still available so do click on the link if you fancy coming along – it’s free! We’d also be interested to speak to local manufacturing companies about the innovation lab we are developing in the Centre that will be a prototyping workshop with 3D printers and other equipment to help businesses and individuals develop new products and solutions. We’d love to know what you’d like to see in this space so if you have some equipment you would like to use, but don’t have access to at present, please let us know.
